Ignore the mess.. we're still unpacking. I won't be able to hide behind that excuse for much longer. ;)
The other day, Jude had a taste of his first food!
I mashed up an avocado and tried to give him some on a spoon.. but he didn't really get it. Lol so I just let him have at it.. it was quite the mess (the first of many, I'm sure!) The little bit that actually did get in his mouth made him gag. So I'm not sure avocado was a success... we'll try again soon! I let him try some banana today and he didn't seem to enjoy that much either.. I think he just needs to get used to it or something. Or maybe he'll just be breast fed for the rest of his life .... ;)
Haha! So cute. :) I was thinking of doing avocado for Joshua's first food too...but maybe I'll try sweet potato. Let me know if he likes it when you try again. And good luck with all of your unpacking!
ReplyDeletePuree it with a 1/4 a cup of water & then mix in some breastmilk, it'll be easier for him to get because it'll be smoother...and the breastmilk will help the flavor. Willow was confused at first with the spoon, but then started to get it once I figured out the right way to feed it to her. Hope that helped some! But don't be in a rush to start haha, their poo stinks BAD once you start solids...oy. ;)
ReplyDeletehe looks like he's eating it! avacados are so good hopefully he'll change his mind!!
ReplyDeleteHi Bethany, I just have to say that you have a gorgeous baby. And I had a homebirth, too. (I know it's not a popular choice with mainstream people, but good for you.) And I had back labor during one of them. Ugh! It's awful, I know. (I ended up with a c-section in the hospital with that birth.) But I went on to have successful homebirths with the rest of my kids, with no back labor. Anyway, I'm just looking for some great blogs to read, and I'm sharing my blog with anyone who is interested. It's at sweetlybrokengirl.blogspot.com. Feel free to stop on by. It's actually not a blog but a book I wrote about my life. I'm hoping to encourage people with it. Take care and God bless. And congrats on the baby and the move. I hope all is well. -Heather K
ReplyDeleteAw, he is so precious! Avocado is a great first food to have! ;)
ReplyDeleteahh! you are such a good mom. :) i don't like avocados so probably won't be feeding them to my baby. although husband is a through and through californian and adores them, so i told him it will be his job to make our child like them if he wants. haha.

Oh my so adorable!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping you'll do an update on this soon, because Nell has been the same way so far - no interest in food, doesn't really get it, gags and shudders with everything we've tried. (Avocado, banana, sweet potato, peas, apples, pears, etc.) What's up with this?!?
